PGA Professional - Mike LaBand
The building once used as a pro shop at Weston super Mare Golf Club, run by Bernard Spanner back in the 1960's, has seen many changes over the years. In a continuing effort to provide the Club with the best coaching available, Mike LaBand, who has been head PGA Professional at Weston for over 11 years, has provided the solution to wet and windy days on the practice ground and the long winter nights by transforming an unused room into a modern indoor coaching studio with video analysis.
Golfers have long enjoyed their lessons with Mike. His teaching abilities range from juniors as young as four, to Club Champions and elite level players, including one of the South West's lowest handicap golfers.
Club Captain John
Whitewood (pictured with Mike above), has already seen the benefit of his lessons
this year. His handicap has been cut
and he has reached the semi final stages of the Paterson Salver. John is going
to partner Mike in a series of Captain/Pro challenge matches during the spring and summer, which will help
raise money for the Captain's charity "Brainwave".
