As is customary, the Captains’ Drive In took place on Saturday 1st January. We awoke unusually to a very balmy January day, a short shower abated just before the first shots by new Captains were hit. The cumulative driving distance achieved was 747 yards. The guess the aggregate driving distance was won by Mark Perry with a guess of 751 yards. Well done Mark! Some good research?
A field full of 72 players then set off to their respective starting tees for a 2 from 4 Bowmaker shotgun start. 18 holes later, with a sprinkling of sunshine thrown in, we returned to the clubhouse for some warm soup and bread – maybe it should have been salad to match the weather!
First prize with 87 points on count back went to the team of Terry Waite, Peter Hardaway, Johnny Cunningham and Paddy Burrell. Second prize, also with 87 points, went to team of Glenn Taylor, Jamie Honour, Chris Homer and Chris Evans. Third prize with 85 points went to team of Paul O’Hara, Tim James, Neil Ramsey and Ed Stephens. Fourth place with 84 points on count back went to Steve Petrie, Dave Harding, Mark Fozzard and Andy Dibble.
