Ladies Section

A warm welcome to Weston super Mare Golf Club Ladies section. We are a thriving community with players of all ages and abilities. Our all year round links course is enjoyed by golfers of all standards and our greens are a pleasure to putt on.

Our ladies day is Tuesday where we run a full programme of competitions throughout the year for both 18 hole and 9 hole members. Those unable to meet on a Tuesday because of work commitments are able to play in reserved tee times on a Saturday. Our 9 hole membership offers competitive golf and appeals to those with time constraints and for some who are finding 18 holes too difficult following injury.

We are actively involved in the Bristol and District Ladies Golf Alliance fielding both A and B teams and also run a Friendly team with matches against local clubs.

We run four Ladies Open competitions. The first in the Spring followed in June with a Senior Ladies Cream tea Open. Our Berry Bowmaker in October is always well supported and the Christmas Pudding 10 hole in December is extremely popular and attracts players from far afield who return year after year.

This year, together with other sections of the club, we are supporting the Ronald McDonald House Charity which offers free ‘home away from home’ accommodation for families -enabling them to stay close to their child while they’re in hospital. We love to welcome new members so come along on a Tuesday afternoon for a cup of tea and a chat!

Ladies Captain 2023

Seniors Section

A very warm welcome from Peter Hardaway, your 2023 Seniors Captain. I think it is a privilege to serve you as your Captain for 2023 and look forward to meeting up with as many current and new members as possible.

The Seniors section is open to all club members once they reach the age of 55 and then all you have to do is pay the annual fee of £5. Seniors competitions are played regularly every Monday throughout the year with different formats comprising Medal, Stablefords, Bowmakers, Betterballs and some other team games. There are also some knockouts played each year. Many of the competitions are played for cups and winners names are put up on boards for all to see for years to come.

We are a very friendly club and apart from the competitions there are many opportunities to play with other members in weekly roll ups. A good place to start for new members is the club roll up every Wednesday, a great opportunity to join in and meet up with other members and enjoy the golf with coffee and conversation at the end to put the world to rights.

As a Senior you have the opportunity to play 36 matches against other local clubs playing both home and away at some of the finest clubs in the South West and a chance to socialise and enjoy a meal and a drink after the match. In addition, the section also enters two SGU county competitions, the Seniors Scratch KO and the Seniors Somerset Bowl.

I am grateful to our Seniors committee for all they do to make Seniors golf such an enjoyable experience.

Please come and join us and play on a fantastic all year round golf course
